Abstract:In this paper, a new positioning method is proposed. Radio Frequency Pattern Matching (RFPM), also known as fingerprinting, is a positioning method proposed in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) RAN4 meetings for UE positioning. The localization accuracy of RFPM is highly related with the number of measurement elements for pattern matching. Using inter-RAT measurements not only adds additional measurements but also introduces the measurements from different radio access technologies (RAT). As these RATs may have a significantly different interference environment than that of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, the positioning geometry can be improved. In this paper, the inter-RAT elements are adopted to improve the positioning accuracy of RFPM, and the Cramer-Rao lower bound is deduced to evaluate the accuracy. By combining inter-RAT measurements with the existed RFPM method, the simulation results revealed an improved accuracy of the proposed method by more than 30% compared to only using one RAT measurements. The results are promising and show a great potential to improve the RFPM positioning performance with the help of additional inter-RAT measurements.

Abstract:TD-LTE as the evolution of TD-SCDMA is designed to support high data rates and reduced radio link delays. To reach these goals, new air interface is specified for TD-LTE. In this paper, the performance of physical uplink and downlink channels are evaluated by means of numerical simulations. Since the deployment of smart antennas is the unique feature of TD-SCDMA, special attentions are paid to the case of TD-LTE with dual-polarized smart antennas scheme, which can greatly facilitate practical application by smaller antenna array size and better stability relative to traditional mono-polarized smart antennas. The error performance is simulated for multiple physical channels with both mono- and dual-polarized smart antennas, and the simulation results on link level show that the dual -polarization scheme pays slight penalty of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) loss, but brings significant benefits to practical application. It is intensively recommended to deploy the dual-polarized smart antennas in TD-LTE.

Abstract:In cognitive radio networks, spectrum sensing is a key technology that enables cognitive radio (CR) users to opportunistically access the spectrum resources of the primary networks. To reduce the interference and enhance the throughput of the CR networks, a joint optimal sensing and transmission time scheme is proposed and analyzed based on modeling the interference. A more accurate interference model is analyzed through renewal theory. Theoretical and simulation results show that the proposed allocation scheme has higher data throughput with the constraint interference.

Abstract:This paper presents a novel partial-update normalized least-mean square (PU-NLMS) algorithmwhose coefficients are updated with a new gradient descent function of the squared estimation error where both the full-update estimation error and the filter length error are contained.Compared with other partial-update NLMS algorithms or even with the full-update NLMS algorithm, the proposed algorithm has better convergence performance. It is worth noting that the proposed algorithm also possesses an effective complexity reduction which is an important characteristic of the conventional partial-update NLMS algorithms that update only part of the filter coefficients. Simulation results verify that the new partial-update algorithm is reasonable and effective.

Abstract:In some application fields of indoor positioning and navigation in wide area, semi-enclosed regions such as aisles with window and lobby, need the joint location calculation among positioning signals from outdoor and indoor, to realize more precise location and better navigation signal coverage. It is the key question that how synchronize the outdoor and indoor signals with less synchronization error to reach high accuracy location calculation. This paper introduced the research on generation mechanism of two signals' synchronization error and proposed a wireless address mapping process. External codes are one to one correspondence with local address by address coding algorithm and mapped to internal codes through local addresses. Accumulation errors in code can be removed to realize excellent synchronous replicating between external and internal codes. In actual test, synchronization precision is able to achieve 0.0048 code chip which is better than current methods. It can provide well synchronization and stability for joint multi-code calculating in LBS and navigation application.

Abstract:Conventional ray tracing (RT) techniques face an obvious shortage of slow performance. Several acceleration methods have been proposed to address this problem and the tetrahedron meshed ray tracing (TMRT) method is verified superior to others in specific scenarios. In the TMRT method, Tetrahedralization is first required to preprocess the original scenario to trace rays through it. In this paper, we propose a TMRT method based on constrained Delaunay tetrahedralization. Compared with other RT method, the voxel method, we will see a marked acceleration effect of TMRT. We will also compare the CDT method with other tetrahedralization method to illustrate the impact of tetrahedralization on the TMRT acceleration effect in different scenarios.

Abstract:Discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based channel estimation (CE) has been widely studied for its balance between performance and complexity. Considering the practical situation, there are two main problems. One is insufficient noise suppression due to unknown channel statistic and the other is channel energy leakage caused by limited band allocation and virtual subcarriers. As a result, the conventional DFT-based CE suffers performance degradation. In this paper, an improved DFT-based CE method is addressed for Long-Term Evolution (LTE) uplink to combat these two problems with low complexity and no need for prior knowledge. A decimation of channel impulse response (CIR) based on tap-tuned threshold and symmetrical extension signal processing is proposed for efficient noise elimination with less channel energy loss. Simulation results manifest that the proposed method can improve normalized mean square error (MSE) performance of the CE module through different comparisons. Besides, the accuracy of noise variance estimation is also increased.

Abstract:In recent years, the design of millimeter-wave wireless communication system has become a hotspot of academic and industrial research, for its broad and license-free spectrum. As the most of 60GHz wireless local area networking (WLAN) systems are deployed in the indoor environment, we investigate the coverage performance of the 60GHz WLAN system in a typical outdoor environment, and evaluate the feasibility of outdoor deployment of 60GHz system in this paper. First, an outdoor 60GHz WLAN system model based on IEEE 802.11ad is proposed. Then, the channel characteristics and antenna array gain at 60GHz are discussed and some comparisons are made with 2GHz. Furthermore, a typical crossroad scenario is simulated by a 3-dimensional ray tracing simulator in both 60GHz and 2GHz. The results of simulation show that, with the help of beamforming, the poor link budget of 60GHz system can be much enhanced. Finally, some conclusions of the 60GHz outdoor wireless system are given.

Abstract:Energy efficiency and network stability affects the application of WSNs, while routing plays a vital role in balancing energy consumption. At present Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) Protocol is a widely used solution. However, there exist problems on network lifetime and stability of LEACH. An improved Routing protocol based on LEACH is proposed to deal with that. Energy threshold is introduced in cluster head (CH) election and multi hop routing to base station (BS) is proposed in routing phase. Simulation proves that improved routing protocol effectively extend the lifetime and improve stability of network.

Abstract: The use of precoding in the downlink of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) systems can suppress co-channel interference effectively. Many schemes have been given to design precoding matrix for different optimization objective. In this paper, a distributed precoding scheme, named block diagonalization with weighted signal to leakage plus noise ratio (BD-WSLNR) for MU-MIMO systems with multiple data streams is proposed. It can nullify the intra-cell interference and mitigate the weighted leakage interference to other cell users according to their interference affordability based on channel quality information (CQI). Besides, a generalized singular value decomposition (GSVD) based matrix calculation method is introduced to improve the calculation accuracy and reduce the gap between effective SINRs of multiple data streams. Simulation results show that, compared to the existed schemes such as block diagonalization (BD), max signal to leakage plus noise ratio (max-SLNR), and block diagona-lization with other cell interference (BD-OCI), the proposed precoding scheme achieves considerable gains in the spectral efficiency of edge users, while maintaining nearly the same achievable sum-rate.
