Abstract:This paper shows Exponential effective SNR mapping (EESM) algorithms implemented as Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) selection technique in LTE system. EESM method utilizes the post processing SINRs (Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio) to compute the effective SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), then adjusts the transmitted information data rate (modulation scheme and channel coding rate) dynamically to match the prevailing radio channel capacity for each user. From the simulation results we can find that EESM algorithm works stable in the whole system chain and can offer around 25% throughput gain comparing to the lower bound.

Abstract:Tree-based multicast routing provides fast and most efficient way of routing establishment for the communications of mobile nodes in wireless Ad Hoc networks. MAODV (Multicast Ad Hoc On-demand Distance Vector) is one commonly known tree-based multicast routing protocol, which has minimal control overhead and route acquisition latency. This paper presents a way to improve the throughput of the system and reduce the number of mobile nodes participating in multicast routing algorithms, which will significantly reduce the routing-related control overhead. A systematic performance evaluation is done by performing certain simulations under NS-2.The applicability of these protocols to diverse situation are also studied and discussed.

Abstract:This paper proposes a new pilot design method for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with virtual subcarriers. The proposed scheme minimizes a simple function relevant to the mean-square error (MSE) of the least squares (LS) channel estimate instead of minimizing the MSE itself. By sequentially solving several one-dimensional optimization problems, the suboptimal pilot subcarriers can be obtained efficiently. The simulation results show that, compared with the conventional partially equispaced pilot design, the proposed scheme can provide much more accurate channel estimation when the channel length is large.

Abstract:The amount of inter-cell interference (ICI)from neighboring cells is one of the most important limiting factor to the performance of the downlink LTE-Advanced system. So coordinated multiple point transmission (CoMP) is proposed as an effective method to mitigate it. In this paper, we establish a system simulation platform and present several downlink CoMP joint processing (CoMP-JP) schemes and corresponding system level performance evaluation which show that the CoMP joint processing can bring significant gains to both the average sector throughput and the 5% of user throughput (cell-edge user throughput) in LTE-Advanced system

Abstract:Cognitive radio (CR) makes it possible for a secondary user to access a spectrum unoccupied by primary users. This paper studies the problem of finding an optimal sub-carrier allocation algorithm for multiple secondary users in an OFDMA-based cell network like LTE. The algorithm we proposed will not allow frequency overlap with other cells in the same CR cluster under condition that the interference from the adjacent cell exists. Graph theory is introduced for achieving optimal performance. And the simulation result is given at the end, which shows satisfying results.

Abstract:A modified K shortest path (KSP) algorithm is introduced in this paper. In condition of large networks and equal link weights, not all of the paths computed are correct in the traditional KSP algorithm, so an improved method is proposed for solving this situation.

Abstract:A full QoS scheduler (FQS) is proposed for multi-rate WiMAX system. Unlike existing algorithms which using multi-state Markov channel model, FQS considers both packet delay and packet error rate. FQS prefers flows destined to high capacity and low error rate channel and flows with large lagging. Simulation results demonstrate that FQS provides higher throughput and lower delay than existing algorithms.

Abstract:In this paper, three channel estimation methods including least square (LS) estimation method, linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) estimation method and low rank minimum mean square error (Lr-MMSE) estimation method are considered for Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based cooperative diversity systems with multiple Amplify-and-forward (AF) relays over frequency-selective fading channels. Furthermore this paper gives an approximate bit error rate (BER) analysis based on Maximum Ratio Combining (MRC) and Equal Gain Combining (EGC) that assumes perfect time synchronization. At last, the paper analyses the impact of different parameters on the performance of estimator, such as time delay, relay gain.

Abstract:3GPP is developing Long Term Evolution (LTE) standardization in recent years to provide enhanced performance. In LTE uplink, SC-FDMA has been selected as the multiple access scheme. In this paper, we investigate the resource allocation scheme for the two mapping strategies of SC-FDMA, LFDMA and IFDMA, which requires the subcarriers allocated to a single user to be adjacent and equidistant distributed respectively. Due to the mapping requirement, the allocation flexibility is reduced which makes it challenging to design effective resource allocation algorithms. This paper provides PF-based resource allocation schemes for LFDMA and IFDMA respectively. Both of the schemes are with low complexity and can achieve proportional fairness for users, while satisfying the sub-carrier mapping requirement. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithms are efficent in terms of average system throughput and fairness performance among users.

Abstract:In this paper we assess the performance of uplink virtual MIMO in WiMAX. Virtual MIMO allows two or more individual users to transmit independently on the same resource blocks, which just looks as if there are multiple transmitting antennas. Thus, one of the most important processes of a virtual MIMO system is user pairing. Some user pairing algorithms have been proposed in literatures. Simulation results show that the virtual MIMO system’s performance mainly depends on the user pairing algorithm. RPS (random user pairing scheduling) is simple, but it can not improve the performance evidently, even may make the performance worse. DPS (determinant pairing scheduling) can achieve higher throughput, but can not offer a good fairness among the users. DPF (double proportional fair user pairing algorithm) can achieve good trade-off between the throughput and fairness.
