Abstract:With the rapid growth of communication systems, utilization rate assessment turns to be of great importance for manage departments to allocate resources more effectively. In this paper, a blind detection algorithm of Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) channelization code is proposed. The algorithm is put forward to evaluate the spectrum of WCDMA network from a noncooperative perspective without the operator data. Since the code for Traffic channels is assigned by RNC, and is not fixed, management department cannot get the code table easily without the operator data. However, this paper only cares about the channel codes numbers, and does not care about the data they conduct. An algorithm of blind detection of channelization code is particularly put forward to evaluate the code utilization rate. And it is proved that the algorithm gets a high correct rate at low Signal Noise Ratio (SNR) through simulation

Abstract:Energy efficiency has become one of the major design goals for green wireless networks, not only for its great effect on global energy crisis and serious CO2 emissions, but also for a growing operation expenditure cost. As the most important energy consuming component, base stations (BSs) are underutilized during low traffic time. Dynamic BS sleeping schemes make energy saving at the cost of cell-edge users' QoS (quality of service), which results in user unfairness. However, the joint optimization of user fairness and energy saving has not studies. In this paper, we develop a theoretical framework for base station energy saving in the downlink LTE-Advanced network and formulate a utility maximization problem that allow for a flexible tradeoff between energy saving and proportional user fairness. However, the joint optimization problem that is non-convex integer program is proved to be NP-hard. We decompose the general problem into two sub-problems and get the close-form solution for load-aware resource allocation problem and propose a greedy dynamic BS operation algorithm, which is easy to implement in practice. Simulations under various practical configurations demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce energy consumption while guarantee the mobile user fairness.

Abstract:With the extensive use of smart phones, mobile Internet has witnessed an explosive development with seas of users accessing from cellular-based mobile networks. However, it exists some security issues in mobile Internet, especially about the WAP gateway which is a bridge to link mobile networks with Internet. In this paper, after analyzing the risks and the principle of attacks on the WAP gateway in mobile network architecture, we propose two kinds of attack behavior targeting WAP gateway. One attack may be that the attackers use large quantity of invalid addresses to cause DDOS attack on gateway, thus, the normal users would not work well. The other one may be utilizing forged or fake addresses to occupy the resources of the gateway and DNS, and also result in them attack each other. Based on the real data collected from a mobile carrier, we proved the existence of the attack on the WAP gateway.

Abstract:With the development of mobile devices, one of the hot research topics for wireless communication technologies has begun to transfer from Quality of Service (QoS) to better Quality of Experiences (QoE). Services such as high-definition (HD) online video, high quality online music and IP-based TV need a lot of wireless resources. Users require more efficient resource allocation method to satisfy their QoE expectations. However, the existing resource allocation strategies cannot give integrative consideration to user's experience. Consequently, a breakthrough optimization is necessary. This paper proposes a QoE model in wireless network. Network conditions, equipment properties and environmental interferences are collected. Based on the collection, user's resource requirement is analyzed. Finally, we optimize the resource allocation strategy based on the analysis above. The system level simulation results indicate that this resource allocation method is applicable for the effectiveness of network resource utilization as well as the improvement of users' average satisfaction

Abstract:This paper introduces two new algebraic constructions of quasi-cyclic LDPC codes based on finite fields. Constructions of regular or near-regular codes based on primitive elements and subgroups of a multiplicative group are introduced. The constructions are achieved by dispersing base matrices into arrays of CPMs. Masking can also be applied to all the two resultant parity check matrices for codes with various rates and degree distributions. The codes constructed based on the new approaches perform well with iterative decoding over AWGN channel.

Abstract:A new method based on the recency effect, a psychological phenomenon that the recent information is more prominent in short-term memory, is put forward for the QoE evaluation of adaptive streaming, which takes bitrate adaption and users' experiencing habits into account. Different from the traditional solutions, the new method uses the divide-and-conquer strategy to simplify the QoE evaluation of adaptive streaming into calculating scores of CBR (Constant Bit Rate) segments and integrating these scores to give the final QoE evaluation based on the recency effect. A subjective test has been conducted to confirm the great influence of the recency effect on the integral QoE evaluation, and then a mathematical model is developed to measure its influence. Based on the model, a solution is proposed to integrate the scores of CBR segments into the QoE of adaptive streaming service. As a result, the Pearson correlation coefficient between the scores of the new method and the subjective MOS reaches 0.953, and the new method is verified to be sensitive to bitrate adaption.

Abstract:A radio-over-fiber (RoF) link providing 60 GHz mm-wave signal using a 10 GHz RF signal source is proposed and simulated. According to our theoretical analysis of transmission performance of the signal, the scheme can eliminate the code form distortion caused by the sideband walk-off effect due to the fiber chromatic dispersion, and by adjusting the phase of the -2nd-order sideband, the influence of fading effect is removed. The numerical simulation results show that the radio-over-fiber (RoF) link with our generated optical mm-wave signal maintains good performance.

Abstract:?Mobile communication systems utilize fixed infrastructures to make sure an end-to-end connection. In some hostile environments, base-stations or access points may fail to work properly, the coverage range cannot reach seamless requirement either. Delay-Tolerant Network (DTN) is proposed to mitigate these problems. This paper analyses emergency scenario in order to make users interconnect without the infrastructures. By programming, it implements DTN on Android smartphones, where DTN nodes can be self-organized and transfer bundles in a single or multiple DTN regions. After investigating DTN architecture, routing strategies and DTN applications on multi platforms, it focuses on implementing voice communication function, neighbour discovery function and dynamic routing function, and enhances broadcast neighbour discovery process and list-exchanged epidemic routing algorithm. Testing is given to verify the above functions in two DTN regions. The results show a DTN node can transfer whatever it receives in one DTN region automatically to other DTN regions in a relatively long life time. By this way, DTN can accommodate the challenged environment and can be utilized in emergencies.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel inter-cell frequency planning scheme and distributed power allocation algorithm are conceived for relay-aided OFDMA cellular networks. The employed smart Relay Station (RS) is able to broadcast pilots to its connected Base Station (BS) and serving User Equipments (UEs) to evaluate the channel quality as well as to manage its accessed UEs. In order to reuse the subchannel among RSs in the RS-UE links, two different mechanisms are proposed to construct the global interference matrix, which interprets the reuse problem into a graphic based one. We further develop a Graphic Based Reuse Algorithm (GBRA) to solve the reuse problem. Furthermore, a distributed power allocation scheme is proposed for allocating the powers in the BS-RS and RS-UE links respectively aiming to maximize the system throughput under the UEs' rate constraints. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed reuse scheme improves the system throughput significantly, through it results in a declined Signal Interference Noise Ratio (SINR). Meanwhile, the proposed power allocation algorithm further improves the system throughputs.

Abstract:Joint transmission is one of the main transmission schemes in coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission/reception systems. Due to different distances between UE and coordinated cells, signals will not arrive at the receiver under perfect synchronization. That is, the reception at UE is asynchronous. In this paper, we gave an evaluation on asynchronous reception in multi-cell downlink joint transmission systems using our LTE-based CoMP simulator and proposed an improved solution to mitigate the asynchronous interference. Simulation results showed that per-subband global precoding scheme widely used in joint transmission systems was very sensitive to asynchronous reception and the subcarrier which was used to calculate precoding vector dominated the system performance. our proposed solution achieves significant improvements when asynchronous reception occurs.
