Abstract:The two-step SAI-SSOR_CG method is applied in this paper to solve the large system of linear equations resulted from the hierarchical implicit TDFEM method. Convergence properties of this two-step SAI-SSOR_CG method are compared with other preconditioned CG algorithms, including SAI_CG and SSOR_CG. Numerical results demonstrate that the two-step SAI-SSOR_CG method performances the best. Also the reversing Cuthill-McKee (RCM) ordering method is used to reorder the sparse matrices created by the hierarchical implicit TDFEM scheme. And the RCM ordering method makes SAI-SSOR-CG method more efficient.

Abstract:A new set of multiresolution curvilinear Rao-Wilton-Glisson (MR-CRWG) basis functions is proposed for the method of moments (MoM) solution of integral equations for three-dimensional (3-D) electromagnetic (EM) problems. The MR-CRWG basis functions are constructed as linear combinations of curvilinear Rao-Wilton-Glisson (CRWG) basis functions which are defined over curvilinear triangular patches, thus allowing direct application on the existing MoM codes that using CRWG basis. The multiresolution property of the MR-CRWG basis can lead to the fast convergence of iterative solvers merely by a simple diagonal preconditioning to the corresponding MoM matrices. Moreover, the convergence of iterative solvers can be further improved by introducing a perturbation from the principle value term of the magnetic field integral equation (MFIE) operator to construct diagonal preconditioners for efficient iterative solution of the electric field integral equation (EFIE). Another important property of the MR-CRWG basis is that the MoM matrices using the MR-CRWG basis can be highly sparsified without losing accuracy. The MR-CRWG basis has been applied to the 3D electromagnetic scattering problems successfully. The numerical results indicate that the MR-CRWG basis performs better than the CRWG basis.

Abstract:To efficiently solve large dense complex linear arising from electric field integral equations (EFIE) formulation of electromagnetic scattering problems, the multilevel fast multipole method (MLFMM) is used to accelerate the matrix-vector product operations. The symmetric successive over-relaxation (SSOR) preconditioner is constructed based on the near-field matrix of the EFIE and employed to speed up the convergence rate of iterative methods. This technique can be greatly improved by shifting the near-field matrix of the EFIE with the principle value term of the magnetic field integral equation (MFIE) operator. By comparison with other preconditioning techniques, numerical results demonstrate that the present method can reduce both the number of iterations and the computational time significantly with low cost for construction and implementation of preconditioners.

Abstract:Recently, two-dimensional (2D) periodically L and C loaded transmission-line (TL) networks have been applied to represent metamaterials. The commercial Agilent’s Advanced Design System (ADS) is a commonly-used tool to simulate the TL metamaterials. However, it takes a lot of time to set up the TL network and perform numerical simulations using ADS, making the metamaterial analysis inefficient, especially for large-scale TL networks. In this paper, we propose transmission-matrix method (TMM) to simulate and analyze the TL-network metamaterials efficiently. Compared to the ADS commercial software, TMM provides nearly the same simulation results for the same networks. However, the model-process and simulation time has been greatly reduced. The proposed TMM can serve as an efficient tool to study the TL-network metamaterials.

Abstract:The abroad usage of USB (Universal Serial Bus) Video device and enhancement has become increasingly important nowadays, such as video conferencing based on networks and the inspection usage in industry. Recent technological advances, such as the widely use of CCD and CMOS sensors, promotes the development of USB Video device. We describe a UVC based approach for designing a desktop video device comprised of firmware and software .Our approach is particularly attractive for those video and audio device exploiters who haven’t had any experience in driver development area. In our solution approach , we first configure the USB chip compliant to the UVC specification 1.1 , then we send video stream data through Input Terminal which is located at the video functionality topology by means of sending a fixed pattern via personal computers or configuring USB chip in Slave-FIFO mode to transfer the real video or image data .Windows system would recognize this video device automatically after bus enumeration and then search the proper driver in our system which is used for setup and making the hardware work and communicate with our personal computers properly.

Abstract:In this paper, HfN/HfO2 gated n-FETs and p-FETs with low preexisting traps density in the HfN/HfO2 gate stacks were fabricated by using a high temperature process. The positive and negative bias temperature instability (PBTI and NBTI) characteristics in the HfN/HfO2 gate stacks are studied systematically. The characteristics of the Vt instability mainly caused by the stress-polarity instead of the substrate type -dependent are observed both in n-FETs and p-FETs. The negative threshold voltage (Vt) shifts, which can be well fitted by a generalized reaction-diffusion (R-D) model, are observed under both positive and negative bias temperature (NBT) stressing. The mechanisms of the interfacial reactions induced by the injected electrons or holes from substrates are proposed to explain the observed PBTI and NBTI characteristics: under PBT stressing, the injected electrons from the substrates induce the breaking of the Si-O bonds in the interfacial layer between HfO2 layer and Si substrates, which causes the PBTI characteristics; under NBT stressing, the injected holes from the substrate induce the breaking of the Si-H bonds at Si interface, which causes the NBTI characteristics. The consistency between the measured data and the ones predicted by the mechanisms confirms the validity of the interfacial reactions mechanisms.

Abstract:Theory of transmitting a sequence of square signal through bandwidth limited channel is given. The process is simulated in Matlab/Simulink with clearly-stated pre-assumptions. Simulation results are present to show that reconstructed signal after the square wave passing through the channel will distort and some frequency limitation must be satisfied to avoid inter symbol interference.

Abstract:Based on coupled mode theory of the irregular coaxial waveguide with smoothly varying profile, the mode selectivity of a coaxial Bragg reflector with inner and outer conducting wall sinusoidally corrugated is investigated. Numerical analysis is carried out under various corrugation parameters, and the results indicate that good mode selectivity can be achieved when the outer wall and inner rod of the reflector are corrugated with a same ripple period and proper amplitude. Comparative study shows that if the outer wall and inner rod have different corrugation periods, the mode selectivity of the coaxial Bragg reflector may be deteriorated.

Abstract:A comprehensive theory is presented to analyze the multi-mode coupling in a coaxial Bragg reflector, including the derivation of the coupled equations, the coupling coefficient and the attenuation coefficient of the multi modes. Numerical study illustrates attractive peculiarities of a coaxial Bragg reflector with both the outer wall and the inner rod corrugated: the operating mode can get strong reflectivity and the spurious modes are well suppressed, even if the reflector with large dimensional size operates in higher-order mode at hundreds of GHz.
